Jelena Ostapenko from Latvia won the Korea Open in Seoul. The Roland Garros winner faced Beatriz Haddad Maia in the final and won the match in three sets – 6-7(5) 6-1 6-4. Ostapenko was seeded as №1 in Seoul and she showed everyone why.In the first round, Jelena Ostapenko had to test herself against Johanna Larsson from Sweden. She had some difficulties only in the first set, winning the match in two – 7-6(6) 6-1.In the second round, Ostapenko had an opponent from Japan – Nao Hibino. But it was not really a competitive match, because the №1 seeded won fairly easy – 6-2 6-2.In the 1/4-finals the Latvian faced Veronica Cepede Royg from Paraguay, winning once again easily – 6-3 6-1.In the 1/2-finals the Roland Garros champion entered the court against Luksika Kumkhum from Thailand. She lost the first set in this clash but won the match – 3-6 6-1 6-3.Ostapenko’s opponent in the final Beatriz Haddad Maia started her participation in the Korea Open against Katarina Zavatska from Ukraine. It was not an easy match, but Haddad Maia managed to win with 4-6 6-3 6-1.In the second round, Beatriz Haddad Maia faced the №5 seeded Irina-Camelia Begu. Once again, she managed to win the match in three sets, continuing to the next round – 6-3 4-6 6-2.In the 1/4-finals Haddad Maia tested herself against the Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo. This time Haddad Maia needed only two sets to prevail over her opponent – 6-4 6-4.To reach the final of the Korea Open, Beatriz Haddad Maia had to beat Richel Hogenkamp from the Netherlands in the 1/2-finals. She didn’t disappoint and won in two – 6-1 7-6(7).
